KPLR
The reporters that I saw in the first ten minutes were Mat Gamewell he was wearing a black suit green tie and a white undershirt. The live shot took place in a hospital with a patient. The second reporter was Theresa Petry she was wearing a all black suite. Her live shot were police officers and police cars.
The first stories that I remember were about the police officers not being paid enough. The chief wants a 5% raise. He fears that he may loose good officers if they are not paid more. City officers make less than county and chesterfield. The city has more crime to deal with so there is no reason that they are not paid more. They feel that St. Louis would benefit from this raise.
The second story that I remember was that horrifying report on that abduction and rap of the seven year old girl. Tony Miller was the reporter and the stand up was outside the courthouse. They are trying to decide where the sex offender should be sent to a prison or a mental facility.
I enjoyed watching the news it seemed that they got right to the point and let us know only the import issues. Yes I will watch this channel again.

The first thing that I noticed was the HD it seemed so high Tec. Lots of dark colors. I also noticed that they didn’t sit at the anchor desk the only time I saw was when they were doing the anchor lead in to the weather. The anchors that I saw I saw were Sandy Miller she was wearing a white shirt with a black vest over it with a gold necklace.
The first reporter that I saw was John Brown. John was wearing a brown coat with a white shirt and blue tie. He was reporting outside near the highway. The second reporter was Shirley Washington. She was wearing a pink sweater with a white turtle neck underneath it. And the third reporter that I saw was Sean Conroy. He was wearing a black coat with a brown shirt.
The first story that I remember was the gas prices and the and about the Ram truck how they are losing their sales. I also remember the part where they talked about the Ram truck cattle drive. The live shots took place at the cattle drive. The second story was about the gas prices. They talked about how the gas prices are going up and nationwide prices are around $3.07. The live shots were at a local gas station. The third story I saw was about the I-44 shut down. They talked about how even though there are 5 lanes open the lanes are smaller and drivers are going more than 90 miles per hour on the highway. Police say drivers think that they can get away with going this fast because there are no off ramps, but police say that is not the case and will still pull you over. The live shots took place at the highway along with the stand-up.
The overall impression I got from this station was not very caring it seemed as though they didn’t have any feelings more like robots reporting the new. I don’t think that I will be tuning in to this station anytime soon.

Yesterday in class we went over the proper ways to interview, who are good interviewers and who are the difficult ones. Elderly people children and police are all hard people to interview. We also turned in our logs. I found out that my log sheet wasn’t done the right way but for next week I will be able to do it accordingly. I realized that we all weren’t supposed to have the same logs. We also turned in our KSDK analysis of the TV newscast. This news channel so far was my favorite one because its seems like they had the latest breaking news. After going over the right and wrong ways to interview we took a look at a few funny tapes on u tube. Then we took a stroll over to the TV studio where we taped the news. I love taping the news because it really is such a great experience for all of us. It can be a little difficult but it is so much fun. I think that everyone in this class is doing a great job and we are all learning so much. I am nervous for next week when I have to do the entertainment part of the news because I am not exactly sure what I am going to write about and I want it to sound really good. I love to do the anchoring even though I stumbled through it I think that was just because I didn’t write it myself and wasn’t to familiar with the script

Virginia Kerr

Tuesday January 8 we had a special guest Virginia Kerr from KMOV, news channel 4. She started off by telling us a little bit about herself. She was born in
Her first internship she ran the teleprompter.
She said that she started out being a “one man band” she did all of her work by herself. She was glad that she got that experience because it has helped her through out her career.
The real deal
Today we went out into the field and shot our package. Our story was about the highway and how people are walking on the construction sites. It all started out we met in the studio at 9 and from there we loaded the car with the equipment that we needed and then we hit the road. It took about 30 min to get to the actual area that we would be shooting and doing our first interview. We started to shot live shoots of the construction workers working and the empty highway. We also shot a few signs and other areas. Then we went on the tour of the highway. And interview Dan Galvin of Gateway Constructions. After this process we went to a local coffee shop and looked for another person to interview. This was kind of difficult because not many people were willing to be interviewed. I think on the 6th person we asked she was said yes. She was a commuter of the highway and we asked her if it has been frustrating with the construction and what are the other routes she takes. This was so exciting i felt very important like i really worked for a local news station. Our story was about the highway and how people are walking on the construction sites. We go t to do a tour on the highway and its progress so far! This whole process was very exciting. After our first interview we did our stand ups this was also a lot of fun!
Special Guest
KSDK

Last Night January 9, I tuned it to watch channel 5 KSDK news station. The first thing that I noticed was the colors more dark colors the blues and black of the studio. The anchors doing this newscast were Mike Bush and Kay Quinn. Mike Bush was wearing a grey suit with a blue tie. Kay Quinn was wearing a black suit and a green blouse underneath it.
The first reporters that I saw in the first ten minutes were Rebecca WA and she was wearing a grey suit. She was reporting from the recent burglary in
The Second story was the I-64 story this took place at the
The third story was about a man who was found dead in a house fire. The neighbors tried to fight the flames with a house fire extinguisher but the flames were too strong.
After that top story it went into the story about Megan Meyers. Her mother was on the Today show talking about this tragic story and how
All in all I would tune into news channel KSDK because I found it very informing news.

Last night I tuned into KMOV news channel 4
The story that they continually talked about in the first fifteen minutes was the closing of the highway. They did shots from MoDot and the highway. They talked about how there are alternate routes that you can you. They also talked about how the road aren’t bad at all and how everyone made a big fuss about the closing and so far everything has ran very smoothly.
Again the hot topic of the day was the I-64 shutdown. My overall impression of the news channel was that they were very repetitive about the same story. They were saying the same thing but in many different ways. Vickie Newton did a very nice job I enjoyed her voice and she seemed interested in what she was talking about so that keep my attention.
I am up in the air about watching this news station again because of how they repeated the same story all with in the first fifteen minutes of the story.
About Me!
So far so good
Packages
AWWWWWW!
In class today we went over how to work on a package and how to write it up. I the first hour or so of class we went over a package and then got into our groups to discuss what story idea we were going to do and who we were going to interview. Our group consists of myself Divina, and Sakshi. We decided that we were going to do the I-64 and how people were walking around the on the construction sites and that is not allowed. This was a good story idea our other idea was to do a bowling alley that has the no smoking policy this is one of the first bowling alleys in St. Charles to do this. Davina works there and said that it will be easy for us to get an interview there and that we could save this one for our next assignment. After our groups we went to the studio where we did the LU TV-26 newscast. We did the entertainment, weather, sports and news. I was the news anchor and let me tell you this was the first time I had ever done this. So I was extremely nervous!!!! I felt like I didn’t do a good job we had to do it over and over again. I hope as I keep getting more practice I will only get better at being behind the camera. Although I was very nervous and didn’t think I did that good of a job I still enjoyed the experience.
