The first thing I noticed about this news station was the color that seems to always be the first thing I see. The colors were light blue and the set to me was stylish. The anchors that I saw were Rick Edlund and Melanie Moon. Rick was wearing a blue suit with a light blue shirt underneath and a red and white striped tie. Melanie was wearing a red suite jacket with a white shirt underneath. I always look at the jewelry that the female anchors are wearing but I did not notice Melanies.
The reporters that I saw in the first ten minutes were Mat Gamewell he was wearing a black suit green tie and a white undershirt. The live shot took place in a hospital with a patient. The second reporter was Theresa Petry she was wearing a all black suite. Her live shot were police officers and police cars.
The first stories that I remember were about the police officers not being paid enough. The chief wants a 5% raise. He fears that he may loose good officers if they are not paid more. City officers make less than county and chesterfield. The city has more crime to deal with so there is no reason that they are not paid more. They feel that St. Louis would benefit from this raise.
The second story that I remember was that horrifying report on that abduction and rap of the seven year old girl. Tony Miller was the reporter and the stand up was outside the courthouse. They are trying to decide where the sex offender should be sent to a prison or a mental facility.
I enjoyed watching the news it seemed that they got right to the point and let us know only the import issues. Yes I will watch this channel again.

In class yesterday we went over all of the assignments that are due today. And let me tell you that this was alot. One of the assignments was the TV job assignment we had to find a job on INBA.net. Some of the questions that we had to answer were the Station name and location with hyperlink to the station’s website, the job title and description, Market Number, using the TV Job’s market list, find what market number the television station is in. The News Director’s first and last name and a few more questions were are we willing to move here for this job? Why did we pick this one over other open jobs? What interests do you about this one in particular? Another assignment we went over was the self critic. This was a two and a half page assignment that had to answer these following questions. What did you think of this class on the first day?How did you feel your first time on-air? what was shooting a stand-up like? What did you learn about putting together packages? also What do you believe you have improved upon since this class began? What will you continue to work on after this class? hat do you feel your strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to being a reporter or an anchor? This was a fun paper for me to do because i got to look back at all the things that i have learned and accomplished in just a short amount of time. After going over what was all due we went over to the TV studio for a live taping which i must say that i thought everyone did a great job. I am very sad to see this class come to an end but i am greatful that i have learned so much in this class.

Field day
Today was field day. Our package was about the first bowling alley that was smoke free. Brunswick bowl was on of the first bowling alleys in St Charles county to become smoke free. This bowling alley is located in St. peters, Mo off of exit 79 right after the mid rivers exit. So we were off to a bad start we went all the way over there and realized that we left the audio equipment at the LU TV station. This cut off about 45 minutes our time. So we drove back and got everything that we needed. We started out interviewing Don the general manager of Brunswick bowl. He was one on the best interviewees that i have ever done. He had lots of great quotes for us to use in our package. After interviewing him we interviewed two other employees of the bowling alley. we interviewed the bartender who is a smoker and we asked her how she felt about is becoming a smoke free facility. she said that it didn't bother her to much the only thing that she wished was that it would make it more better for the employees who do smoke. After that we took tons of b roll of the game room the restaurant and the kids that were bowling. We also took a break to have a bit to eat and i must say that the food was really good. after our snack we did our stand up outside. today was a really fun day for us we had a great topic and a great group to work with. I am really happy with this class and even though there is a lot of work to be done i will be sad to see this class end.

off to FOX 2
today in class we took a trip over to the fox 2 news station. We met over in our LU TV studio and then i rode with Jill over to the studio. This was a nice ride over there me Jill and Sakshi all got to get to know each other a little bit better. All of the people were so nice. They were all willing to answer any and all of our questions. And the best part was they had this really cute coffee machine that makes each personal size cup of coffee for you. When we got there we went in to the room where Julie Beard has her j term class. This is the room where they write there blogs. After that the other students did their interviews and did a tour of the studio. We all went into the news room and captured lots of pictures. this day was a lot of fun and i am so thankful for this opportunity. I am really enjoying this class and all of my other students. i came into this class not knowing anything about anchoring reporting or making a package. I love all of the other classmates even though they all have experience they have made me feel very comfortable and if i didn't know or was unsure about what i was doing they were all willing to help.

Today in class w discussed the packet the reporter and The Anchor. We talked about our tone, energy, pitch, stress and inflection. And what all of that meant. We all took turns reading from the packet. We talked about how to be good to our voices. For example some of these things were eliminating a few things like alcohol, going to the bars, spicy food, nuts nicotine, caffeine and a few other things. We also talked about a few things that you should add to make your voice better. Those things included hydration, abdominal breathing, warm-ups, and sleep. After that we talked about developing credibility such things like being sociable, competent, extroverted, composed and a good character. We also went over a few anchoring tips. Then we talked about clothing. They said to keep clothing simple. EVERYONE should wear make- up even men make up should look natural not caked on. Jill went over a few tips with us. Like color in your brows, and using MAC studio fix foundation. Also she said to use a white eye shadow to define the eye more. After we talked about make up the boys came in with a few relaxation and warm up routines. One of them talked about pretending like you have a huge piece of gum in your mouth and this warms up your check muscles. Someone else talked about saying 1,2,3 3,2,1 in different tones to get your voice ready for the lowest tone. After that we were all suppose to head over to the TV studio to tape the news but I got a unexpected call from my sons school and had to pick him up. I hope it all went well.

The first thing that I noticed was the HD it seemed so high Tec. Lots of dark colors. I also noticed that they didn’t sit at the anchor desk the only time I saw was when they were doing the anchor lead in to the weather. The anchors that I saw I saw were Sandy Miller she was wearing a white shirt with a black vest over it with a gold necklace.
The first reporter that I saw was John Brown. John was wearing a brown coat with a white shirt and blue tie. He was reporting outside near the highway. The second reporter was Shirley Washington. She was wearing a pink sweater with a white turtle neck underneath it. And the third reporter that I saw was Sean Conroy. He was wearing a black coat with a brown shirt.
The first story that I remember was the gas prices and the and about the Ram truck how they are losing their sales. I also remember the part where they talked about the Ram truck cattle drive. The live shots took place at the cattle drive. The second story was about the gas prices. They talked about how the gas prices are going up and nationwide prices are around $3.07. The live shots were at a local gas station. The third story I saw was about the I-44 shut down. They talked about how even though there are 5 lanes open the lanes are smaller and drivers are going more than 90 miles per hour on the highway. Police say drivers think that they can get away with going this fast because there are no off ramps, but police say that is not the case and will still pull you over. The live shots took place at the highway along with the stand-up.
The overall impression I got from this station was not very caring it seemed as though they didn’t have any feelings more like robots reporting the new. I don’t think that I will be tuning in to this station anytime soon.
